Registered Siberians, Shelters & Rescues Huskies and Loss Dogs
Sadly, there are many "huskies" that end up in shelters and rescues because of irresponsible breeders and people getting a husky without doing their research on the breed. It is highly unlikely that these dogs are registered with the Canadian Kennel Club and therefore legally in Canada cannot be referred to as purebred* Siberian Huskies. However, this does not mean that these dpgs are not in need and deserving of a loving forever home. Although it is normally older dogs that end up in shelters and rescues, occasionally you can find a puppy. Please consider adopting from a shelter or rescue.
I DO NOT recommend purchasing a puppy from a "breeder" who is selling unregistered huskies. Registration is your guarantee that what you are buying is a purebred Siberian and as long as people continue to support irresponsible breeders we will have dogs ending up in shelters and rescues.
Support the shelters and rescues, NOT the irresponsible breeders!

* In Canada, under the Animal Pedigree Act, any dog being referred to as purebred must be eligible for registration with the Canadian Kennel Club within 6 months of the sale of the dog. The breeder legally cannot charge extra for registration papers.
