Abbreviations: What Do They All Mean
Wondering what all those abbreviations in front of or behind the registered name of a dog means. Here is a list of the abbreviations you will find throughout this website and what they mean. Some are recognised by the official registration bodies ie Canadian Kennel Club and American Kennel Club and will therefore be seen on the dog's official pedigree certificate. Other titles are given out by the National Breed Clubs ie Siberian Husky Club of Canada or Siberian Husky Club of America) and a few abbreviations have been made up by myself to recognize some accomplishment the dog has done that I feel should be recognized. Two examples of this are dogs who have completed in distance races such as the Iditarod or Yukon Quest or if the dog is a therapy dog. These things, in my opinion, speak to the dog's working ability and / or temperament.
