Kimo
Information
Kimo was special because he was the first dog I bred that did any major winning in the show ring. Kimo lived with Marilyn Cote and her family in Sackville, Nova Scotia. I never co-owned Kimo and he only ever came to live with me on weekends I was showing him. He was a gentle but outgoing boy who had a temperament similar to his dad's but without the shyness. He was a glimpse of what Jason would have been like if he had got the proper socialize as a pup. I had the pleasure of knowing Kimo and "his" family throughout Kimo's life. When it came time for Kimo's last visit to the vets Marilyn invited me to go with the family which I did.

In The Show Ring
Kimo was my first home bred Group placing Siberian. In fact he was the first dog that I put a Group placement on. He obtained Group 2nd wins under Pat Miller and Betty McHugh. Kimo LOVED to be shown and he was a joy to show. We had lots of fun in the show ring together. I will always remember the first weekend I took Kimo off to a dog show. He did really well at the show but when I brought him home his "mom" Marilyn was in tears because she missed him so much. I thought for a bit that she would not be able to let him go away to shows. Kimo's sister, Sila, was also suppose to be shown but after one weekend of shows her family decided they just didn't like her being away even for just a weekend so she was spayed and lived out her live as a MUCH love family pet. Marilyn missed Kimo that first weekend so much I was sure the same would happen with him. However, Marilyn noticed how much Kimo loved to go to the shows and knew he was in good hands so Kimo continued to be shown but was never away more than a weekend and normally I would take him to shows where I could just take him for the day and bring him back home to his mom at night. |
Obedience
Marilyn did take Kimo through several sets of obedience classes and did actually take him to several obedience trails. Unfortunately, Kimo again was a typical Siberian who did extremely well in classes but was always the clown in the obedience ring. He would "woo, woo" all the way around the ring and at a couple shows took off on Marilyn. The last try was at an outdoor show. Kimo took off and it took a while to get him back. Marilyn decided that obedience trials with Kimo were just too nerve racking.
Other
I did try to breed Kimo to a bitch I co-owned at the time (Sekene's Share In Time, "Tica") but it turned out that Tica had a thyroid problem and I couldn't get a successful breeding on her. I'm glad this breeding didn't take but Kimo was an extremely nice boy with an exceptional temperament. It was unfortunate that he was never used but he sure had a life full of a lot of love.
