Pippin - Other Activies
Therapy Dog Work
For years I have said that I felt Pippin would make a wonderful Therapy Dog to work not just with seniors, but also children. However, his busy show career and my lack of time always got in the way of us doing this. I kept thinking when I retire and have more time. But in Jan. 2015 when he turned 8 I realized this was an activity that couldn't wait any longer. This boy was just too special not to share him with those that could benefit from his calm, loving personality. So, I contacted Saint Johns Ambulance and in June 2015 he passed the test to work with seniors, making him my 4th generation Therapy Dog. He loved visiting the seniors but I just knew he was destined to work with children so I inquired about him doing the second test for children. Normally, the dogs need to work with seniors for a year before being tested to work with children. However, the evaluators were so impressed with Pippin that on Oct 31st, 2015 they allowed him to be tested to work with children and he passed with flying colours! On Nov. 27th, 2015, a dream for me finally came true as he started his work as a Therapy Dog for children at the Ronald McDonald House here in Halifax. Pippin is my first dog to quality not just to work with seniors but also children. I couldn't be more proud of this incredible boy and know he will bring a lot of joy to so many children and their parents in his new job.

Juniors
Pippin has always loved kids and he started out his show career by being handled by 11 year old Colton O'Shear. He picked up his first Group 1st win while being handled by juniors. Since he loves to be shown and loves kids so much, it is obvious to me to let him be used in juniors even in his retirement.

Agility
Although we do not compete, Pippin and I enjoy doing agility in my backyard during the summer as a form of exercise for him.

Dancing
A 9 years of age I decided to teach Pippin some of Levi's dance moves and like everything else Pippin was more then happy to learn new things and to spend time with me. This boy proved he had brains as well as beauty as he learned some of Levi's most difficult moves of backing up one step at a time and moving side ways while in front of me. As it was with Levi, I had a new waltzing dance partner.
