Chimini Owners - Speak!
Testimonials from Chimini puppy owners. This page was started April, 2020. I will continue to add testimonials as they come in.
When we began the adoption process in 2019 we were impressed with Brenda Potter's experience and friendliness, and the care she took finding homes for her puppies. Our respect for Brenda, and her co-breeders, Colleen and Rob Wolfe, continued to grow after the litter was born and we were given ample opportunity to see how the puppies were nurtured and prepared for their future homes. Adoption day arrived and we were delighted with the gathering that Brenda arranged, and the supplies and suggestions she provided with the puppy. Since then, Brenda has generously offered to answer any questions or concerns we've had. We couldn't be more happy with the adoption process, our continued contact with Brenda, and the opportunity she's provided for us to meet and learn from other Chimini owners and their dogs.
Our pup, Jack (Robin Hood), is now almost nine months old. From the beginning, he has been healthy, sociable, intelligent, athletic and beautiful. Jack's passionate and courageous personality suggests to us that he would do well on an Arctic sled team in centuries past. But Jack also has a tender side which is loving and responsive. These traits make him easy to bond with and tremendously fun. His responsiveness, combined with his attentive intelligence, also means that he is very trainable. Jack's trainability and athleticism leave no question in our minds that he is a high performance pup. He embodies everything we had hoped for in a Siberian husky bred to a high standard. For those interested in the breed, and who have the time and energy to invest in a sled dog, we highly recommend Brenda Potter's Chimini Siberians. -- Linda Deschene and family |

We have owned Siberian’s since 1987, but not Chimini dogs.
In 2011, after filing out a very impressive adoption application form that we were happy to answer each and every question, that told us that Brenda takes her responsibility as a breeder very seriously and takes every caution to make sure her pups go to loving, caring, responsible homes, and that her puppies are correctly matched to the right owners. We received the “great news” ! that we were approved and placed on her adoption list. While we were anxiously waiting for our new puppy, it came to our attention that Brenda and Carolyn Martin had a co-owned 6 month old girl available for adoption. At the time we had a 13 year old female , so we decided, it might be less stressful for her to get an older puppy. So we brought Gabby home........she was so polite, gentle and respectful of our older girl, we fell in love instantly. We couldn’t love ️ our sweet Gabby any more, she is “extremely “ intelligent (apparently that comes from her dad Weaver), well mannered, dignified, and loving, .... I could go on an on with compliments......a direct result of Brenda’s meticulous breeding. She is the center of my world, my “once in a lifetime girl”, we can even read each other’s minds.....she is amazing Both Brenda and Carolyn have always been available to help and guide us with various issues during the years. It has been an absolute honour to welcome Gabby into our home, and without a doubt we look forward to adding another Chimini puppy to our family.... Brenda and Carolyn, thanks for your loving dedication to these fantastic creatures Paul and Janice Aube |
“All you need is Love......and a dog(s)”
My life has always been full of love and dog fur. When we lost “Sam I Am” at the age of 16, we knew, that was it for us.... we could not go through loss like that again. Silly us..... I just happened across a breeders page on Facebook...... the rest is history, as they say. We met Brenda Potter of Chimini Siberians in the fall of 2010. She was kind, loving and funny. Her love of the Siberian is what drew us in and of course the meeting of the beloved Pippin Brenda takes her role of a breeder very serious, she interviews and picks the proper homes for her puppies. If you’re one of the lucky ones, you will have a great friend and support for life. January 1, 2011 we brought Mishka home....Happy New Year to us April 10, 2012 we brought Lily home ( Mishka’s sister)... a blessing. May 6, 2017 we brought Drifter home , Pippin’s son...... another blessing. We would love to say this completes our family but really who knows. What we do know is that we are grateful to Brenda for taking a chance on us and believing that we could be great fur parents to her amazing animals. Thank you Brenda |

Pippin - from the 2018 Crash x KitKat litter |
Hi folks! I’m a happy girl and my name is Pippin. I’m nearly two years old and I live in Halifax with my human parents, Diane Paquette and Jerry West. Brenda Potter did a wonderful job making sure I was well looked after as a puppy and then finding me the perfect fur-ever home. I’m very healthy and love to play and go for walks. Brenda knows a lot about Siberian Huskies so if you’re looking for someone like me to join your pack, get in touch with her.

An absolute top notch breeder who exhibits all the characteristics a potential puppy owner could want. Caring, knowledgeable, attentive, experienced, passionate and most importantly loving.
Anyone interested in a Siberian should absolutely look Into becoming part of the chimini family. Lexie has been an absolute pleasure to have in my life, she is such a loving, wonderfully fun, adorable girl who just adores everyone and shows so much love to anyone she meets. I’m blessed to have her in my life. Carl Costin |
Rob and I met Brenda in 2008 after we lost our Sibe the summer before.. our former breeder at his age wasn’t breeding any more gave us her name!
She just had a litter and we were asked to come visit... little did we know.. she was watching to see if we “fit” ...we did... we became part of the Chimini Siberian Family! Over the years we have had 6 wonderful Sibes, 3 litter experiences, and hoping it continues to be more! She has taught us so much, Brenda is so knowledgeable, caring, loving of her furkid family! That’s what she lives for! Her Sibes !! All of them! Sledding and the show ring... never in my wildest dreams had I thought I’d be doing something like that! But with Brenda’s help... I did it! We’ve met so many people! Including Karen Ramstead! Who run the Iditarod several times! Brenda brought her here for a weekend to do a talk of her experiences! That was exciting for our Chimini Family! So.. if anyone is interested in a Sibe... and lucky enough to join Brenda and her Chimini family we are all welcomed with open arms and love! Colleen Wolfe |

I have known Brenda since 1991, and have co-owned Siberian Huskies with Brenda since 1994. That’s six and counting, as well as coordinating/orchestrating three litters with me and my girls. Brenda’s background knowledge, passion and pursuit of the ideal, versatile, working Siberian is unparalleled. She supports her puppy owners and is an encouraging cheerleader for folks and their fur kids as they take on showing, obedience, rally, agility, running, skijoring, sledding, tricks...and anything else you you might wish to try with your furry four-legged partner(s). If you are lucky enough to be qualified to get a Chimini Siberian from Brenda Potter, your yard could look like this too .
Rick and I met Brenda and her dogs Freya and Levi about 16 years ago. We were thoroughly impressed by Brenda and her dogs behaviour. So we all agreed that we would get a pup when one was available. We were certainly anxious and excited and impatient but Bachelor was worth the wait. He arrived in March 2005 about 18 months after we met which allowed us to plan and get what we needed for success. (And yes I know when we want a puppy we want to “start the car” and get it now, but having the right puppy is more important.) Bachelor was the first puppy that we did plan for unlike the previous dogs that were instant decisions. That allows Brenda and us to develop a relationship so she can fit the puppy personities into the best home for all. I thought I wanted a black and white blue eyed female, but I got a grey white brown eyed boy and I wasn’t disappointed. Since then, we got Tana, Muddy, and Jubie who Brenda planned 2 litters and we kept one puppy from each of those litters, Runner and Willow. Brenda cares about her puppies and stays in touch with her puppy people and is there when we need her with suggestions, support and empathy. She is truly there for the life your puppy and you. Thank you Brenda, for our family Margaret Ann Shaw |

Little John (Wynd) from 2019 Strider x Razie Litter |
Katherina and I are relative newcomers to the Chimini Siberians world, but I have admired Brenda's dogs from afar for some time.
As a result, when she posted last fall that a puppy might be available from her most recent litter, we decided that we would express interest. Not knowing us, Brenda took the time to learn about us, our home and our dogs, and took some time to help determine the dog that would best fit our lifestyle and activites. We can only say that the 1400 km trip to pick Wynd up was well worth it. He has fit in well with the rest of our Siberians, and is a healthy, happy, outgoing and confident dog. Although he is only six months old, we think that he is a wonderful addition to our pack. As a bonus, he travels extremely well in the car – which was fortunate, given the two days it took to get him home! One of the unexpected bonuses has been the support that Brenda offers to her puppy owners... as experienced owners with nearly 20 years of Siberian ownership (Wynd is our 12th), we can attest to the importance of being able to get advice when needed. We look forward to seeing how Wynd does with whatever activities he chooses to participate in with us, but have no doubts that our little Coppertop will excel in our sledding activities. I have Brenda to thank for my best friend, my furbaby. Phoenix (previously Elvira) came into my life when my heart was broken from the loss of my previous dog. She was not to be a replacement, but to help fill my heart with joy again. And boy has she!
Phoenix is smart, stubborn and hilarious. She makes me laugh when I am stressed or upset. She comforts me, although she is very independent and not much of a cuddler! She does it in her own ways which I've come to love. I went through a bad breakup, divorce, moving and most recently the loss of my Mother. I can honestly say I don't know where I'd be without her. She has also won the heart of my boyfriend Peter and I love our little family. She demands attention and attracts attention. We are constantly being told by strangers what a beautiful and well behaved dog she is. And everyone is always shocked when we say her age (9 now) as she looks and acts like a puppy. I also appreciate the support Brenda gives her "puppy people". Always available for questions or advice. She truly cares for all of her pups and their people! Kimberly Peters |

I am a proud member of Brenda’s Chimini Siberians. We met Brenda in the fall of 2004 when we were considering a Siberian pup. She interviewed us, asking lots of questions. She set the expectations of what we could expect as husky parents. Since we had a Siberian prior to meeting Brenda, we were prepared. Freya and Levi were the parents. Freya took right to my husband. She got up on the coach and put her head in his lap. The pups (Dance litter) arrived January 16th, 2005. Cha Cha became my beloved Akayla. She was a little black and white puff ball. We loved her dearly and were devastated to discover she had cancer years later. She passed days before her 13th birthday. I didn’t think I would ever recover from the loss of my girl. I vowed never to get another pup, but then Brenda called saying she was expecting a litter, was I interested. I was torn, because my grief was so great but I knew I had lots of love to give a pup. Turns out Margaret Ann’s Jubie, was expecting. Margaret Ann had Bachelor, from the dance litter that I got Akayla from. She told me, she was keeping a pup from the litter and it would be great if I were to get a pup from the same litter, after all Bachelor and Akayla were litter mates. I was convinced, I would get a pup. Turns out both Brenda and Margaret Ann knew what I needed before I did. Hickory came into my life, a little red and white bundle of joy and mischief. I renamed her Cheyenne and she fills my heart with joy, (Margaret Ann has her sister Willow). I am so happy I gave having a dog another chance. I have posted pictures of Akayla and Cheyenne below. I am truly lucky to have had Akayla and currently have Cheyenne in my life.

One of the best things about my Chimini Siberian is Brenda Potter, his breeder. When my husband and I first met with her about acquiring a puppy, Magnum had yet to be born. In our initial meeting, she took the time to get to know us, to question our lifestyle, our suitability and to really dig deep into my desire for another Siberian puppy. She gently guided us through the interview, listened without judging and shared her love of the breed with us and explained the importance of why she took the time to do this with us. The most important things are finding the right puppy for the right person/family and determining whether they are suited to each other and most importantly, to avoid potential heartbreak, not just for the dog, but for the person/family too. By taking the time to do this, she is contributing to the success of the match. Brenda is one of the most knowledgable and informative Siberian breeders in the country and she willingly shares that knowledge and information with her puppy owners. She has always been available to me for advice, to answer questions and to offer guidance. I can't thank her enough for the joy and laughter she has brought to our lives through Magnum (aka, Leon). He is such a handsome, wonderfully friendly and gentle soul. Many times his goofiness has us in hysterics, his bossiness and the stubborn streak are outweighed by his desire to share our space and his joyfulness and sassy growls make me smile out loud. His concern for our older rescue dog is evident each time she leaves for an appointment and then returns home. Magnum, like many of her other Siberians, has a huge desire to learn and he is very quick to pick up on what he's being taught--and he demonstrates this whenever he feels like it too. Because of the knowledge, care and consideration Brenda devote to each litter and because of the time she takes to get to know each puppy owner, many of us have what we feel are the best dogs ever.

We were lucky enough to get a puppy from Brenda in 2017. We knew a dog from one of her litters would be sweet and loving after meeting her lovely dogs. We were right. Brenda was very particular about which puppy we got because we had one small child and a baby on the way. Cece fit into our family perfectly. She loves our boys and puts up with living in hectic busy home. She loves to play with the boys and has learned to be gentle with them. She has mastered catch - it’s Evan’s favorite game to play with her. She is very loving and is always up for a snuggle if you got a blanket out. In typical Siberian fashion she also makes sure you don’t forget to walk her and we don’t mind, It keeps us active. We wouldn’t trade her for the world - she is beautiful inside and out.

These are 3 Sibs from Brenda Potter that we are/we’re fortunate enough to have in our family. The first was Niki, welcomed by my in-laws in the 80’s, he made me fall in love with Siberian Huskies. We are second generation owners of Brenda’s beautiful dogs, top is Brunson at 4 years and bottom is Helio at 10 years. We were so impressed with how Brenda vetted us before we could have one of her fur babies and most impressively is that we can contact her at anytime with questions about our fur babies, we feel secure knowing she is always there to support us! Thank you so much Brenda, through you we have experienced the incredible joy of owning and loving these beautiful dogs .

There is not a day that goes by that I am not thankful to Brenda for placing Willow, Aero and Jasper with us.
In 2011 we filled out an Application after looking for Siberian puppies. We meet Brenda in person before she approved our application. You could tell she loved her dogs and wanted the puppies to have a wonderful life. It was the first time we had ever waited for a puppy. The puppies were born March 23, 2012. We watched each day for updates and pictures. Not knowing which puppy was going to come live with us was hard. We fell in love them all. Brenda takes her time to make sure she places the right puppy in the best home. Willow was well worth the wait. Brenda is always there when we have questions or concerns. We were very fortunate to have Aero (formally Timbit) come into our lives in 2014 after someone had second thoughts. In 2018 we added Jasper (formally Cedar) to our family. They have given me a reason to smile each and everyday. Brenda and the Chimini Siberian Puppy owners are very supportive and many have become friends. Kim and Donnie Hislop |
About 11 years ago we decided we wanted a puppy. This decision didn't come lightly and after much consideration, we narrowed down our choice breeds and finally agreed upon a Siberian Husky. Many thought this was an odd choice for us, considering having never owned a dog before even in my childhood years, and Graham only having experience with dogs as a child. We did our research and all arrows led us to Brenda and her Chimini Siberians. We had no idea how in depth the process of adopting one of her pups would be, and were surprised to find that a puppy would be chosen for us, not the other way around. Brenda takes the time to get to know each applicant to ensure her dogs and the owners will be a good match. We appreciated her care and consideration, and it was very apparent how much dedication she puts into the breeding and well being of these dogs. Brenda's dedication doesn't stop there. Throughout our 11 years with our boy, Shoei (formerly Cisco from the Dancing with Wolves litter) we have come to know Brenda well. We continued on with her basic training classes when Shoei was a puppy, and she even continued to stay connected with us as he grew older, helping guide us through the various stages of his life. We are so happy Brenda was recommended to us all these years ago.
When we met Brenda's huskies, we immediately fell in love with their kind nature and mild temperaments. They were friendly, well mannered, yet playful. Shoei has been all of that and so much more. This boy has become the center of our little family and enjoys doing whatever we are doing, as long as he can enjoy it with us. His favorite activities include off leash walks through the woods, touring around on the paddleboard, canoe or kayak, riding shotgun in the side-by-side, sitting on his front yard watching over his land, or going for car rides with the window down. Shoei is often complimented on not only his handsomeness but also his calm and gentle nature around people and other animals. We thank Brenda for being a part of the best decision we have ever made! - Lauren & Graham Frazee |

Our first contact with Brenda was in 2009. We had owned Siberian’s in the past and recently had lost our female. We were looking for a brother or sister for our remaining dog for companionship and to fill a deep void in our family with the loss of our girl. That’s where Brenda came to our rescue! We honestly had no prior knowledge of Chimini Siberian’s we just googled breeders in Nova Scotia. Thank goodness Chimini came up in our search. We contacted Brenda by phone several times as we lived in Cape Breton so she could get a feel for us as people and dog lovers. We filled out our application and were put on her list for her next litter. On May 7th 2009 the Dancing with Wolves litter was born and we were chosen to become part of the Chimini family.
One of the many things we love about Brenda as a breeder is the way she evaluates the family and her pups. She then makes an educated decision on which puppy will be best suited with which family based on that information. We were lucky enough to be the grateful recipients of Kicking Bird. After what seemed like an eternity, the day came when we were able to pick him up. This was the first time we actually met Brenda and she made us feel so welcome in her home. Siberian’s were everywhere lol! She had her own dogs plus the Mary Poppins litter and our Kicking Bird (Kicker) The package she sends her owners home with is packed full of information on the breed, training, and full family tree including pictures. We have never received anything remotely close to this with our other Siberian’s. She also loves all of us to keep in touch so she can hear how her pups are doing as they grow-up. Again, never had that kind of dedication from a breeder. Brenda also offers a health guarantee on her pups where I have never had any other breeder offer this. This is a true sign of a breeder not in it for money but for the love of her dogs. She uses her years of meticulous breeding knowledge to produce top quality Siberian’s! Kicker will be 11 in May and has never had any health issues so the proof is in the pudding. Our Kicker has been an amazing family member. He is a funny, spirited boy with a typical husky personality. Even though we now live in Ontario, we still call Brenda every now and then. She even offered advice on another siberian we adopted here. We called her with a health issue because we trust her knowledge of the breed and her willingness to help even though it wasn’t one of her pups. We could fill pages and pages honouring Brenda as a breeder but there are others also wanting to do this so we will end by saying thank you Brenda for our beautiful boy. We couldn’t imagine a day without him. There is no other breeder for us! Anyone wishing to add that furry bundle of energy into their family should look no further then Chimini Siberian’s.
