Pippin - A Once in a Lifetime Dog
Pippin is the first born from the "Lord of the Ring's" litter. As it was with his grandfather, Levi, I liked this boy from the moment he was born. Initially he went to live on a co-ownership with Pat and Krista Maynard who I also co-own Disco and Star with. However, with the arrival of a new baby and Krista realizing that she needed to go back to work sooner then she had hoped, Pat and Krista realized that it would be best for Pippin to come back to live with me. They gave Pippin a great early foundation with all the socialization a puppy needs and I'm very grateful for that.
Pippin has quite the impressive pedigree. In just three generations he has 6 BIS winners, one RBIS winner and three Iditarod participants (one finisher). His grandmother Freya is from the famed NorthWapiti Norse God litter. Freya was on Karen's Iditarod Ceremonial start team and three of her littermates Odie, Loki and Kara were 5 time Iditarod veterans. Freya, Loki and Kara were also Canadian Champions. Other relatives also finished their Sled Dog and Working Dog degrees and participated a variety of other activities including obedience, agility, rally obedience and therapy dog work. Again all in just the first three generations.

What can I say about Pippin - how about he is pretty darn near perfect in my very biased eyes! :) For me, he is my once in a lifetime dog. In harness he has always been my power house; the one I rely on to get me up the hills. He obtained his Working Dog title at just one year of age and then turned into a wonder main leader finishing his Working Lead Dog title in 2012. In the show ring he was the #6 Siberian in Canada in 2010 and #3 Siberian in Canada in 2012. He is a multi BIS winner and a AM/CAN National Specialty AMO winner. At the 2011 US National he beat out over 500 Siberians to win the Award of Merit. He is a dog who is appreciated by both show and working Siberian breeders which is hard to achieve now-a-days with these two worlds being so far apart in what they are looking for in a Siberian. One of my proudest moments of Pippin's show career was the day that 11 time Iditarod veteran Karen Ramstead chose to send her best wishes to this boy as he headed into the breed ring at Westminster! Pippin retired from regular CKC shows at the Halifax Kennel Club show in Feb. 2014 where at 7 years of age he walked away with 4 Group 1st, 1 RBIS and 2 BIS wins! Then in Feb. 2017 I took the risk of bringing him him out one last time to show everyone just how great he still looked at 10 years of age and he won the very competitive Working Group.
But most of all Pippin is SUCH a sweet, gentle and easy to live with boy who has such a wonderful, loving and goofy personality. He LOVES carrying around his stuffie toys and our little game that if he brings one to me and then sits he gets a treat. He is a great eater and is quiet and still eats even when there are bitches in season. He got along very well with his grandpa Levi when he was alive and he is excellent with even little puppies. He LOVES all humans but particularly children. For years I said that I hoped that one day I would have the time for him to become a Therapy Dog with children as I thought he would be excellent at it. On Oct 31st, 2015, Pippin meant the requirements to be a Therapy Dog for children and started visiting Ronald McDonald House on a weekly bases. The children, parents and staff at RMH all loved Pippin and his signature wave trick. I couldn't be more proud of this dog.

Although Pippin loves everyone, he is definitely MY boy. Never far from my side, he sleeps by the side of my bed every night and never fails to put a smile on my face each and every day. He is in every way a once in a lifetime dog
